1115 new cases in Victoria, nine deaths; Warning of more wild weather for the eastern states; Bert Newton Funeral; NSW registers 286 new local cases

Elective surgery will begin returning to full capacity for public and private patients at hospitals in Greater Sydney, the Nepean Blue Mountains and Illawarra Shoalhaven local health districts from Monday, NSW Health said.

It was previously cut by a quarter due to COVID-19.

However, local restrictions may still be imposed.

“Where necessary, local health districts may impose temporary restrictions on a hospital in the event of a local outbreak to ensure the community is kept safe and can access hospital treatment if necessary,” NSW Health said.

Private hospitals have also performed elective surgery on behalf of the public health system for patients who had their non-urgent elective surgery postponed.
