3 wounded in a shooting at a petrol station on the South Side

CHICAGO – Three people were injured in a shooting in the city’s Chatham neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Police said the three people were inside a gas station in the 8600 block of South State Street around 6 p.m. 15:45 when an unknown armed man opened fire several times.

  • A 20-year-old man was beaten in the thigh and brought to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.
  • A 26-year-old man was beaten in the left thigh and back and brought to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.
  • A man of unknown age was hit once and self-transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.

Police said the 20-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound was not the intended target. No one has been remanded in custody and the shooting is under investigation by Area 2 detectives.
