Release window to Star Wars: Ahsoka remains unknown, but there has been significant movement on the pre-production front.
Set within the timeline for Mandalorianen, Rosario Dawson returns in a new live-action adventure after Ahsoka Tano’s adventure. When fans last saw her, the former Jedi was on the hunt for a formidable opponent who was last seen in Star Wars rebels – Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The implication was clear. Ahsoka fulfills his promise to find his lost friend, Ezra Bridger, and Thrawn was the last man he was seen with. Rumors in recent months have suggested this Ahsoka will take the place of the previously devised animated sequel to Rebels, which has since been reworked into the live-action show. The word in the local watering hole is that Dave Filoni is well into the process and it should not be long until the series is underway.
Who plays those characters is just as important as how they get involved. It was previously reported that Mena Massoud had been thrown to play Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka, and there have since been news that Lars Mikkelsen is returning to the role of Thrawn for a crack at live-action. While there has been no official word on the cast, the star of the show has offered his thoughts on what is to come …
ROSARIO DAWSON SHARES VOLTAGE FOR RUMORED AHSOKA CO STARS
On her Instagram story, actress Rosario Dawson has shared a post celebrating the rumored cast of Mena Massoud and Lars Mikkelsen for Ahsoka as Ezra Bridger and Thrawn, respectively. A picture of the post can be seen below:
Posts from social media by artists are by no means official announcements, but Rosario Dawson has a bit of a rebellious streak when it comes to Star Wars.
When word first broke that the actress would bring Ahsoka to life Mandalorianen Season 2, Dawson was quoted as saying, “I’m very excited about it being confirmed at some point,” who inadvertently let the lynx out of the bag about her casting.
This Instagram post seems to be a continuation of her revealing trend. Probably reputable sources have reported on the cast of Massoud and Mikkelsen to suggest that things are as good as a finished deal, but Lucasfilm is known for keeping their cards close to the west when it comes to news of live-action projects . As Dawson comments on the cast, things have escalated to a point beyond being rumors.
So the next big question is when castings will becomes official and if the start and result date of a production accompanies them. With Mandalorianen Season 3 is now widely reported as in the middle of production, it is conceivable that cameras may start rolling after Ahsoka before the end of the year – in which case the event series could be ready for streaming by the end of 2022.
The future is bright for Star Wars at Disney +, and Ahsoka is a big part of it. Mandalorianen started a journey that expanded the live-action universe in significant ways, and Rosario Dawson will lead the fight in taking things to the next level, hopefully with Massoud and Mikkelsen by her side.
