Akshay Kumar increases the fee for this EYE-POPPING amount; budget to spiral out of control? EXCLUSIVE

A few days ago, it was reported that Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff would team up for the first time on a mega-2 hero project titled Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Whether this film, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai fame, proclaimed to belong to the action-masala genre, has any significance for the 1998 film of the same name, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, but is not known, but what we do know is that it sent the media and industry insane for more than one reason. First, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan brings together two giant stars after a long time in Bollywood, where giant 2-hero movies have almost become a thing of the past. Second, both Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are professionals in action and should set fire to the screen with their fights and stunts. Finally, it’s exactly the kind of cinema release the industry needs after the recent crisis it finds itself in, where nothing but Sooryavanshi has set the box office on fire. That said, what we’ve learned about Akshay Kumar’s demand for the film may raise serious questions about the viability of its box office. A well-placed source in the industry has exclusively informed BollywoodLife that Akshay has apparently increased his fee for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and demanded a conspicuous, jaw-dropping, unheard of Rs. 165-170 million for the project from the father-son producer duo Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, whose Pooja Films had funded the original 1998 film and will also fund the new version. What’s more, our source adds that they may want to give in to his demands as they want to continue their collaboration with the superstar after recently working on the well-reputed Bell Bottom and having another film on the way with him. However, this may bring the budget out of control as our source further informs that Tiger Shroff is also expected to raise his fee a bit, given his latest fantastic track record and exciting lineup. So if he asks Rs. 25-30 million that would mean an insane Rs. 200 million kroner are awarded the salaries for the two main subjects themselves. The film would need two popular heroines opposite the guys, and together they would come at Rs. 5-7 million kroner minimum.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar would also aim Rs. 8-10 million to direct the film given its own great track record. Then the rest of the cast and crew would cost approx Rs. 4-5 mio together, not to mention Rs. 30-40 million necessary to make the film itself, which is the whole point of getting the project started. After all this, Rs. 15-20 million kroner at least should be kept aside for P&A (print and advertising). All things considered, the overall budget for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan could end up being an astronomical one. Rs. 260-280 million kroner, which would make it a real task in theaters, the film’s OTT, satellite, abroad and music notwithstanding.

Although these figures will never be confirmed by any filmmaker, the reports of Akshay Kumar’s fee increase will prove to be true, then it will really put Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’s financial return into a problem.
