Alexa, what’s up with the new line of Amazon Fire TVs? – CBS Los Angeles

From Amazon prime to Alexa Virtual Assistant, Amazon always seems to have something new when it comes to online shopping.

In September 2021, Amazon made yet another giant introduction: its own proprietary series of Fire TV smart sets integrated with their ever-growing suite of connected home technologies (your move, Apple).

Of course, Amazon has been selling TVs under the name Fire TV for years and running the Fire TV operating system on devices made by companies like Insignia and Toshiba. But now they are taking the reins of production.

The two new devices are Four TV 4 series and Omni series. Both sets have 4K UHD resolution and have HDR support and integrated connection between TV and other Amazon devices, such as. Call cameras and Echo speakers.

And with these TVs, you obviously do not need an extra Fire TV Stick or dice, because Amazon’s streaming interface comes pre-installed in the device. If you prefer AppleTV or another streaming device, you can connect it via one of four HDMI ports.

That 4-series and Omni are available for pre-order today and are scheduled to ship on October 27, 2021.

This new model is available in three sizes – 43-, 50- and 55-inch – and starts at $ 370.

All sizes in the 4 Series have 4K resolution and HDR 10. And all sizes of this model integrate seamlessly into your Amazon device. Hands-free control works via the Alexa voice remote control or the Fire TV app.

If you’re looking for a mid-sized 4K TV, this model is just a little more expensive than that TCL’s Roku TV of similar size and performance specifications.

Omni is available in five sizes, from 43 to 75 inches along the diagonal. Prices range from $ 410 to just under $ 1,100.

But what do you get for the extra money?

The two largest devices (65 and 75 inches) come with enhanced Dolby Vision HDR features.

Omni also takes your Amazon-centric connection a step further than its cheaper cousin, allowing you to view, picture-in-picture, your favorite show and live video from your Ring camera. In addition, with this model, you do not have to talk into your remote control: Omni is equipped with a remote control microphone for hands-free requests, also called “Alexa, play TikTok.”

For people who are concerned about privacy, the Omni also has a manual switch below the screen that allows you to turn off the microphone.

This TV is available in a black or silver metal finish.
