Mackie already took his Avengers character, Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, from big screen to small for Disney +, with creator / author Malcolm Spellman and director Kari Skogland at the helm. Now he is put on the table Captain America 4, with Spellman to co-write the script with Dalan Musson, co-author of the Disney + Marvel series
In April, THR broke the news that Spellman develops the fourth installment of Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios. Up to this point, Chris Evans has played Captain America via the Steve Rogers character, who appears in a trio of solo films, Avengers excursions and various other Marvel movies.
The question of who has the right to wear the shield or be Captain America after Rogers was a central theme in the Disney + series. Now the feature will continue the story of Mackie’s Wilson, the current wielder of the shield.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier, who also plays Sebastian Stan in the role of Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, has achieved strong critical and fan reaction. It is nominated for five Emmys. Spellman assembled an almost entirely black writers’ room for the series, which has been praised for bringing the black experience to the forefront unlike any other superhero film or TV series before it.
Deadline Hollywood was the first to report Anthony Mackie’s agreement to star Captain America 4.
Mackie has been at MCU since 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The actor is being torn apart by UTA.
