Reporting to the Production Manager of the Department of Performing Arts/Emerson Stage the Assistant Production Manager: Curricular Support’s primary function is to support the Performing Arts (PA) department’s Fall and Spring semester curricular projects.  The Curricular Projects are the culmination of acting, directing, and movement classes that result in the performance of their work in one of Emerson College’s venues.   The Assistant Production Manager will work closely with Performing Arts faculty and staff as well as the Office of the Arts to provide a foundation of time and resources for these projects to thrive within.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Performing Arts Faculty, Staff, and Office of the Arts Employees, schedule and calendar Curricular Projects.  This includes all class meetings, rehearsals, tech, and performance times while within the venue.

  • Communicate with PA faculty and staff to coordinate, procure and deliver material needs for projects.

  • Once a semester, schedule and meet in person with each class to articulate guidelines, resources, logistics, and expectations of and for their time within their performance venue.  This includes technical resource use, prop weapon use policies, appropriate use of space, reservation of space, ticketing, and front of house needs.

  • In collaboration with students and faculty, maintain and procure necessary rehearsal and performance materials for project presentation.

  • Maintain an online calendar for Curricular Projects.

  • Maintain online inventory of Curricular Project furniture.

  • Coordinate with the Office of the Arts to schedule Front of House for performances.

  • Coordinate with Office of the Arts and Performing Arts faculty to identify appropriate ticket numbers and printing of tickets for Curricular Projects.

Experience, Qualifications, and ideal Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in theater or management or 1-3 years appropriate theatrical or management work experience

  • Ability to understand, enjoy and communicate effectively with academic-oriented individuals.

  • Must enjoy working and collaborating with college-aged individuals.

  • Must enjoy working with artistically oriented individuals.

  • Strong oral and writing skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Basic Knowledge of Google Docs Google Sheets and Google Calendar.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.

  • Ability to prioritize goals and implement plans.

  • Ability to solve problems and conflict.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Be willing and enthusiastic to assist others and work in a team setting.

  • Maintain and articulate Emerson Stage student Office Assistants’ proctoring responsibilities while curricular projects are rehearsing and performing in venues.

  • Schedule and communicate Emerson Stage Office Assistants’ proctoring schedules while curricular projects are taking place.

  • Schedule, coordinate piano tunings with the service provider and Office of the Arts.

  • Serve as the Production Manager for High School Drama Festival, a one-day festival for local high school students. Reserve spaces for school performances and workshops.

  • Work with Theatre Education graduate students and undergraduate stage and production managers to coordinate technical needs for the festival performances with the Office of the Arts.

  • Serve as the on-site Production representative for Emerson Stage strikes (Sunday afternoon/evenings, nine times per season). 

  • Working with Emerson Stage to oversee a week-long festival of student-written and student-directed one-acts and ten-minute plays.

Grade of Position: T01N Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25 Hiring Range: $24,999.98 – $26,166.67
