General Summary

The Department of Special
Education & Communication Sciences and Disorders, in the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University, is seeking applicants for one
tenure track position in the Communication Sciences & Disorders Program. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. The
successful candidate will serve an eight-month, tenure track appointment with summer employment contingent on student demand and funding. A
competitive salary will be based on qualifications and prior experience. Starting date should be no later than August 30,
2022.

Eastern Michigan University is an R2 institution, enrolling approximately 17,000 students and offering an outstanding benefits

Principal Duties and
Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Area of specialization is open, although we particularly encourage
applications from individuals with expertise in the areas of fluency, autism, and child language disorders.

Establish, develop, and
maintain an active research agenda and related disseminations in the form of scholarly publications, grant proposals, and conference
presentations, including the mentoring of graduate and undergraduate student research projects.

Maintain an active service record at
the department, college, or university levels, and wider community.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining
agreement between EMU and the EMU Chapter of the American Association of University Professors, which contains and settles all matters with
respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Qualifications

Minimum
Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech & Hearing Science or a closely
    related field;

    1. Strong ABD candidates will be considered. A letter confirming ABD status from the applicant’s dissertation chairperson
      is required.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology;
  • Possess or be eligible for a Michigan
    Speech-Language Pathology license;
  • Evidence of an active research/scholarly agenda and accomplishments related to the appointment;
  • A
    record of clinical experience beyond the Clinical Fellowship Year.

Desired
Qualifications

  • Previous higher education teaching experience
  • Experience acquiring or pursuing external
    funding
