BC’s premieres have completed 35 radiation sessions for throat cancer and expects to be back in the office within the next few weeks.
“They had phasers on anesthesia and my treatment is complete,” John Horgan said in a tweet Monday.
He added that he was grateful for the staff at the BC Cancer Clinic in Victoria and for healthcare professionals across the province who are “under an incredible strain right now” due to pandemic.
Horgan was diagnosed with throat cancer in November after doctors discovered a lump in his throat. He underwent surgery to remove it before he started irradiating.
The well-known Star Trek fan continues to work from home. He has been texting staff daily during his treatments and is still involved in meetings and decision making.
He has lost significantly, which is typical of his type of radiation therapy. He told Global News that the side effects are “challenging but tolerable.”
Horgan is set to chair the first ministerial and cabinet meetings virtually in the next few weeks before returning to office in late January or early February.
