Bill Murray teases the Marvel role

Bill Murray wears a plaid suit, sweater vest and striped shirt while sitting next to a poster for the fake Garfield Flabby Tabby 3 movie as seen in Zombieland: Double Tap.

Bill Murray is an unpredictable man. He shows up in strange places to hang out with random people, like back in 2009 when he was reading poetry for construction workers. He’s definitely not over a bit of trolling, so take a pinch of salt – or should I say salt– by Murray’s announcement that he’s in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum mania.

Murray dropped the news while doing an interview with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (it just means Frankfurt General Newspaper, nothing fancy) about The French broadcast, his latest film with director Wes Anderson. Deadline made the “heavy” boost by posting Murray’s German interview in Google Translate with this result:

“You know, I recently made a Marvel movie. I probably won’t tell you, but hey. In any case, some people were quite surprised at why I decided on such a project. But for me, that was the case. quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him.He was funny, humble, everything one would want from an instructor. And with the cheerleader story Came with it he made a movie years ago that I think is damn good. So I said yes, even though I’m not otherwise interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor … Let’s put it this way: the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie.”

The director of Came with it, by the way, is Peyton Reed, who just happened to be instructing Ant man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and is currently recording the third part, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. That must be the project Murray is in … provided he has not gone out of his way to lie to a German newspaper, knowing that it would drive American entertainment news wild with speculation. So … let’s wonder! Who can Murray play in Quantum mania? Will he just be a short cameo? Something more substantial? A laconic agent for the film’s villain, Kang (Jonathan Majors, already seen in Loki)? Some multiversal version of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas)? Something else? Tell us in the comments.

I suppose we know for sure if Murray is in the cast before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres on July 28, 2023, but I suspect Marvel will try to prevent his role from being spoiled until then. We have contacted Disney for a comment and will update if we hear back.
