A new rumor suggests that Bill Murray’s small role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is associated with an important part of Incredible Hulk-lore.
Bill Murray’s part i Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may be less than previously expected.
A rumor collected by The Illuminerdi suggests that Murray will play an obscure, green-skinned alien named Krylar in Quantum mania. In the comics, Krylar is a K’aitian from the planet K’ai, which exists in the Microverset. Krylar’s only appearance came in Incredible Hulk # 156, where he helped the Hulk in his fight against a double Hulk. Unfortunately, Krylar was killed for his actions by Visis, a member of the royal family who tried to dethrone Princess Jarella, the rightful ruler of K’ai and the Hulk’s loving partner. While this rumored role suggests that Murray’s stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be short-lived, it could have major consequences for Quantum mania‘s plot.
In MCU, Microverse is known as the Quantum Realm, which is a dimension that exists in the space between atoms and is only accessible by shrinking down to subatomic size. IN Ant-Man and the Wasp, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang traveled to Quantum Realm to pick up Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne, who was trapped there when her daughter Hope was a child. This journey helped Ant-Man increase the scale of his sizing abilities, and became the first person to travel easily between kingdoms.
News that Murray would join MCU for Quantum mania appeared in October, though neither Murray nor Rudd have officially commented on the cast. In fact, both have played incredibly nicely, with Rudd even suggesting that there may have been some confusion stemming from both actors appearing in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. For Murray’s part, he said he had starred in a Marvel movie from the director Came with it, who is Peyton Reed, who also instructs Ant man movie.
With or without Murray, Quantum mania appears to have a star-studded cast. In addition to Rudd and Pfeiffer’s return, the film will feature Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne / Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who repeats the role after an appearance in Loki‘s season 1 finale. Rumors also suggest that a familiar face could return to the MCU, this time as MODOK
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
