Southland Miter 10 employees who participated in isolation at national awards dinners

Several employees from Southland Miter 10 stores are believed to be isolated after attending a national awards night at Auckland’s Spark Arena, where the bartender has since tested positive for Covid-19.

Miter 10 Winton owner Craig Flynn posted to the company’s Facebook page on Friday night, saying he and two others isolated themselves after participating in the awards.

More than a thousand people, including media personality Hilary Barry and comedian Jeremy Corbett, are also isolated after attending awards ceremonies at the arena last week.

Barry hosted the Miter 10 Awards dinner on August 12th. Corbett hosted an event for Bayley’s Real Estate at the same venue the following evening.

Hilary Barry hosted the Miter 10 Awards dinner in Auckland on 12 August. A bartender at the prices has since tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokeswoman for Miter 10 said she understood participants would be concerned and they had all been notified and informed of what actions to take.

“The country was at level 1 at the time of the event and appropriate protocols were in place, including QR codes and contract tracking capability.”

The Miter 10 Winton Facebook post says Flynn and the other two were at the awards night.

“Unfortunately, one of the bartenders who worked there tested positive for Covid-19.”

Then it is added: “The three of us have now been isolated in our own home with our families since kl. 16 this afternoon. We get our Covid-19 test tomorrow and hopefully results on Sunday.

“After our results have returned, we then isolate ourselves for another 7 days. Crossing fingers, we are negative and we will definitely keep you informed on our FB page. At this point, all three of us are fine and have no signs or symptoms. ”

Many of the comments on the Facebook post praised the store for being upfront with the situation.

It is also understood that staff from Invercargill and Te Anau attended the conference and isolate as well.

Flynn had reopened his store Tuesday night after Facebook messages started rolling in from locals who wanted to know how long delivery it would take after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern at 18.00 announced that the country would go into alarm level 4 lockdown.
