Well, we can not say that we woke up this morning and thought we would hear bells ringing and birds singing to announce that Karl Lagerfeld is getting a show at Disney +. Okay, okay, the birds did not sing, and we do not think there was a bell, but still.
Disney + is planning to create a show about the legendary fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld (we know!). Disney + has released a new series about its life and career. The show, plans that Disney EMEA President Jan Koeppen unveiled at the Series Mania TV festival in Little Tuesday, will be filmed in France and tell the story of the German designer’s phenomenal rise to the top of the French and global fashion scene. If you do not know Karl Lagerfeld, was a feature of the fashion world for decades with his signature white hair, black sunglasses and tall, stiffened collars. He was creative director of the French fashion house Chanel from 1983 until his death in 2019. He was also creative director of the Italian fur and l
eather goods fashion house Fendi, and had its own, eponymous, fashion brand. Disney + series, Emperor Charles, starts in the 1970s, when Lagerfeld had just begun to break into the French fashion scene.
This greenlit series is part of a broader push for European originals by Disney. Koeppen said the company aims to deliver 60 original European series by 2024.
