Hi, my name is Alex Jaffe. If you’re a regular here, you may know me from the “Ask the Question” column, my monthly column, where I answer the most difficult and confusing questions the DC community needs to know. But were you aware that I every Tuesday at. 14.00 Pacific, 17 PM Eastern also runs a “Trivia Tuesday” contest for DC diehards in our community bulletin boards. The topics are wild and varied. The last few weeks, they have varied from the history of the suicide group to Tim Burton’s Batman movies for the world of LEGO DC. Each week, the winner will have the opportunity to take home the prestigious Riddler Badge, one of many elusive digital badges that one can strive to serve as a member of our community.
However, as we head to the DC FanDome, we’re celebrating this intense weekly trivia contest by picking things up. In the next many weeks up to the DC FanDome, each participant will be included in a drawing for some quite fabulous prizes. What kind of thing are we talking about? You’ll have to attend every week to find out, but we can tell you right now that these are things you absolutely do not want to miss.
How does Trivia Tuesday work?
Every Tuesday at 14:00 Pacific, 17:00 Eastern, Trivia Tuesday begins in a bulletin board thread marked in the DC community (which can be found at community.dcuniverseinfinite.com). As we approach game time, look for a banner that appears at the top of the DC Community homepage and click on it.
In the thread, I will (using my alter ego from HubCityQuestion) post a new question as soon as the game starts, with a subsequent question appearing every five minutes for the next two hours.
The one who first answers each question correctly will be recognized as the winner and receive a point!
All points earned by all players are kept track of in a continuously updated scoreboard in the thread’s opening entry.
The one who has the most points after two hours of questions wins! But between now and the DC FanDome, everyone who participates in the upcoming games, whether they make the scoreboard or not, will be entered into a raffle for this week’s grand prize.
What are the topics?
If you are going to play competitively at Trivia on Tuesday, you would like to study. This means that you will be paying attention every FanDome Friday and taking note of that week’s theme, because that will also be the theme of that week’s trivia. For example, our theme for next Tuesday, September 7 …
DC through the decades
One of the strongest pillars in DC as a whole is the concept Legacy, and how generations of stories continually build on all that has come before. This week, we move from decade to decade, from DC’s beginnings in the 1930s to the present day, exploring each of the most significant events in each generation of fandom. Those interested in comics and media history would like to take part in this!
Look for other special DC FanDome editions of Trivia Tuesday every week between now and the DC FanDome: September 14, September 21, September 28, October 5 and October 12.
If you enjoy it, you might want to make Trivia Tuesday a regular thing! It continues to run every week, even after the DC FanDome is completed. Sometimes we promote upcoming DC projects, other times we include topics chosen by you, the players. With tens of thousands of comics and countless hours of games, television and movies, true knowledge of the DC universe is a lifelong pursuit. The biggest prize we offer at Trivia Tuesday is the opportunity to learn something new!
Trivia Tuesday is just one of the activities that you can participate in every week in the DC community. Not a member yet? Go ahead and sign up for free!
