A total of six people were shot Saturday in Northwest DC, leaving three of the victims dead, authorities said.
DC Police Chief Robert Contee said officers heard gunshots in the 600 block on Longfellow Street NW just after 7:30 p.m.
Contee said the suspects left a vehicle and fired shots down the block, into a crowd of people hanging out there. He said he was not sure why the crowd was targeted.
All the victims were adults who were taken to local hospitals. Three are being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.
The three killed appeared to be young adults, Contee said.
A gun was found at the scene. A DC police CCTV camera close to the scene captured images of the suspects’ vehicle, a dark Honda Accord with tinted windows and chrome-colored rims.
Authorities are asking the public to call 202-727-9099 or text 50411 if they have information. A reward of up to $ 75,000 is offered.
