All good things must cease, even when it comes to television. Over the years, many TV stars have suddenly left their roles – some have chosen to leave a famous role in the past.
In September 2020, Anna Faris informed her that she was leaving CBS ‘ Mother after starring in the series for seven seasons.
“The last seven years at Mom have been some of the most satisfying and rewarding in my career,” she said at the time in a statement. “I am so grateful for Chuck [Lorre], the writers and my amazing teammates to create a truly wonderful work experience. Although my journey as Christy is over, and which allows me to pursue new opportunities, I watch next season and anchor my TV family. ”
Faris never revealed the reason for her exit, and while her character was being written off, the show suffered; after a few months, Mother announced that season 8 – the first without Faris – would be the last.
Nina Dobrev also shocked fans in 2015 and announced she would not return to The Vampire Diaries after season 6 was over. She later explained to Harper’s Bazaar that the plan all along was that she should leave after six seasons. “If anything, the fact that [leaving] scared me drove me even more, ”the Final girls actress said in 2017. “I needed to feel that fear, ‘Oh, my God, what if I never get a job again?’ It just made me work five times as hard to make sure it didn’t happen. ”
Dobrev, like many actors leaving hit shows, eventually returned and appeared in the CW drama’s series finale in March 2017. “I’m excited to bring this show to an end we’ve always wanted – with Nina back to help us say goodbye, ”showrunner Julie Plec said at the time.
