SIUE is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Teaching Consultant position in University Services to East St. Louis. The Performing Arts Teaching Consultant (Dance/Music) position is required to prepare students with the necessary performance skills they will need to understand the benefits of music in everyday life. This role provides instruction for dance and music classes with the Performing Arts program at the ESL Center using the Katherine Dunham dance technique. The Teaching Consultant assists in coordinating the Performing Arts program, creates lesson plans, and provides assessment of participants’ assignments and progress. The participants will work together in a cohesive group environment. The Performing Arts program is a learning community where students work together, expand their minds and participate in a musically enriched environment.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in the specified field sufficient to qualify for a valid teaching certificate.
- Three (3) years or more of proven dance experience
- Experience working with at risk youth and young adults
- Creativity and intuition relevant to dance
- Classroom teaching and management experience
- Designing, developing, and delivering quality lesson plans
- Participant assessment tool experience
- Excellent communication skills
FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Posting Salary: $20 an hour
Location: East Saint Louis Campus
Work Week: Monday – Thursday
4:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
