The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln enters Guillermo Del Toro’s curiosity

After stepping away from his lead role The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln returns to horror with a new series on Netflix. The actor has been announced as part of the cast for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, a horror anthology series with different actors and stories with each episode. Lincoln’s episode is written and directed by Jennifer Kent (Babadook) with a story by del Toro and co-stars Essie Davis (Babadook) and Hannah Galway (Sex / life).

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is described as “a collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically eerie, these eight are equally sophisticated and eerie tales (of which two original works by del Toro) will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally selected by del Toro. “

Panos Cosmatos, Jennifer Kent and Vincenzo Natali serve as writers and directors for the individual episodes of the series. Other instructors associated with the various sections include David Prior (The empty man), Guillermo Navarro (Godfather to Harlem), Keith Thomas (Firestarter), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Ana Lily Amirpour. David S.Goyer (The Black Knight), Regina Corrado (Deadwood, The tribe), Lee Patterson (Curve), Aaron Stewart-Ahn and Haley Z. Boston (Brand new cherry flavor) are also on board as writers.

Along with Lincoln, other cast members named after the various episodes include F. Murray Abraham (Mythic Quest), Glynn Turman (Ma Raineys black bottom) and Luke Roberts (Ransom); Tim Blake Nelson (Guards), Elpidia Carrillo (Euphoria), Demetrius Grosse (Fear The Walking Dead) and Sebastian Roché (The man in the high castle); Crispin Glover (River’s Edge) and Ben Barnes (Shadow and legs); and Peter Weller (RoboCop).

Most fans will recognize Lincoln best from his role as zombie apocalypse survivor Rick Grimes in the long-running zombie drama The Walking Dead. Lincoln left the show early in his ninth season, but he will repeat the role in an upcoming film adaptation that is slated to be the first in a trilogy. Progress is very slow with the project, partly due to the pandemic, and a release date has not yet been announced. It’s unclear if Rick will appear in the show’s eleventh and final season.

“I’m not filming at the moment. I’m still very locked in,” Lincoln told SFX Magazine in April. It also seemed like he was eager to step back into Rick’s boots again. “We are very excited about how we are going to go into production at the first available opportunity – it’s spring. I can’t wait to get those cowboy boots.”

After departure The Walking Dead, Lincoln got a role that was much less violent by playing the lead role in the family drama film Penguin flower. Directed by Glendyn Ivin and co-starring Naomi Watts, it premiered on Netflix earlier this year. He has also appeared on his own on his old co-star’s AMC show Drive with Norman Reedus and played Ebenezer Scrooge in a stage adaptation of A Christmas song.

Curiosity will debut on Netflix in 2022. Production on Guillermo del Toro the project has officially begun in Toronto. This news comes to us from Deadline.
