IDF hits Gaza targets in response to balloon fires

The IDF has hit several targets in the Gaza Strip on Monday night in response to fires in southern Israel caused by burning balloons, the IDF confirmed.

In addition, Palestinian media reported Monday night that an Israeli civilian vehicle was damaged by machine-gun fire from Palestinians near Sderot.

Israeli Air Force (IAF) planes targeted a Hamas rocket manufacturing site as well as a military connection to a concrete plant in Khan Younis. According to an IDF spokesman, the concrete produced in the facility, which was purposefully used to build Hamas’ underground, terrorist tunnel network.

The IDF also noted that these sites were located in the heart of a civilian area in the Gaza Strip, near cultural sites, mosques and a waterworks.

Earlier Monday, three fires broke out in Sha’ar Hanegev’s regional council with an investigator determining they were caused by burning balloons sent over from the Gaza Strip.
