FAIRFIELD – A former Planet Fitness will be the new home for a medical practice that needs extra space.
Fairfield Internal Medicine is moving into the closed Planet Fitness at 544 Patterson Drive, after renovations are completed, sometime during the fourth quarter, hospital officials said.
“Mercy Health has a long history in the city of Fairfield, and we saw the immediate opportunity to cultivate one of our most popular methods in the Patterson Drive location,” said Courtney Seitz, Mercy’s chief operating officer.
“In addition to facilitating access to key primary services by adding more providers to practice, patients and society can also benefit from laboratory services that are conveniently located under one roof.”
The exercise moves from Sandy Lane to the 14,435-square-foot Planet Fitness, which closed four years ago when a new one was built on Michael Lane, adjacent to Jungle Jim’s international market.
The Casler Design Group is the architect of the $ 2.2 million project, and HuDawn Facility Solutions is carrying out the renovation.
“We are excited about the project. It is another step in the rebuilding of our city center, ”said Nathaniel Kaelin, the city’s economic development manager.
“Mercy fills a vacant building in a more prominent location and renovates an existing building that is underutilized.”
The new location will have 30 examination rooms and a laboratory that will be open to both patients and the community. It will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays; and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Fridays.
The practice will have five physicians, one physician in osteopathic medicine and three certified nurses.
“We are excited to see Mercy Health expand at Fairfield Center,” said Mayor Steve Miller. “The new Fairfield Internal Medicine facility will provide high quality services to our residents and be a good anchor for the continued redevelopment of Patterson Drive.”
