Vincent D’Onofrio says it’s silly to look deeper into the little pieces I write, after fans speculated he was teasing the return of Daredevil’s Kingpin.
Former vovehals star Vincent D’Onofrio has clarified rumors that his character Kingpin may return to MCU. D’Onofrio played Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, for the whole Daredevil’s three seasons run on Netflix opposite Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. During this time, D’Onofrio proved to be a standout in the series. While Netflix’s series only proved to be tangentially related to the broader MCU – comprehensive battle of New York in Avengers- their status as a cannon has been questioned ever since Marvel started producing their own series for Disney + such as Loki and WandaVision.
D’Onofrio became prominent after his iconic performance as Pvt. Pyle and Stanley Kubricks Full metal jacket – his fourth film role. The actor then went on to play a number of roles, including the lead role as villain Edgar, a farmer whose body was used as a skin suit by an insect-shaped alien, in Men in black as he was awarded a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor. Most recently, the actor played Governor George Wilburn in Ryan Murphys One flew over the cuckoo goat prequel series Ratched, and is set to be displayed in Tammy Faye’s eyes, based on the life of the nicknamed TV angel who had his world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this week.
Known for writing short poetic pieces on his Twitter, D’Onofrio recently raised rumors that he could return to MCU as Wilson Fish. In a follow-up tweet, however, the actor said it was “silly to look deeper into the little pieces I write.” D’Onofrio added that he greatly appreciated the fans who had circulated this speculation, which he “loved to play [Kingpin] and Daredevil. ” You can see the full tweet below:
Stupid to look deeper into the little pieces I write.
I have been writing them for years now.
Although I appreciate fandom.
Because I loved recording him @vovehals

Although not all Netflix Marvel series hit the mark, fans are eager to see some of these characters jump to a Disney + series or even an MCU movie, so much so that some were convinced they had seen Cox’s Matt Murdock in the recent trailer to Spider-Man: No way home. This speculation led Cox to clarify that he was not involved in Tom Holland’s third outing as a wall crawler. Jon Bernthal recently expressed interest in repeating his role as Punisher at MCU, but noted that he had not heard anything from Marvel about the possibility.
Since D’Onofrio’s performance as Pisces was as loved as it was, it is understandable why so many would love that he returned. There has been some speculation that he could actually repeat his role for the foreseeable future Hawkeye series, as the character played an important role in Matt Fraction’s run of the comic book, which serves as inspiration for the series. With the series focusing on the consequences of Hawkeye’s time chases the criminal underworld like Ronin, it would make sense for Kingpin to be one of the people chasing the former Avenger. Of course, this is pure speculation, but it would make sense for Marvel to bring back a laudatory actor like D’Onofrio instead of reworking the role.
D’Onofrio, however, seems to downplay these rumors, so viewers must take his comments at face value. As exciting as it would be to see the actor return, it would simultaneously raise even more questions about what is considered canon in MCU. While he’s honest about not returning to MCU, fans at least have his incredible performance in him vovehals to look back lovingly on.
