Final Fantasy XIV recently unveiled some new abilities and job changes that came into play in the upcoming expansion pack, Endwalker.
Final Fantasy XIV showcased some new skills and job changes that came into play in the upcoming expansion, Endwalker. Producer Naoki Yoshida elaborated on these details in FFXIV recent letter from the producer stream, a format developers use as a way to engage and communicate with fans. The game has become increasingly popular over the last year, so much so that FFXIV servers experienced congestion of players in June.
Though Final Fantasy XIV has become a successful MMORPG in recent years, the game was almost considered a lost cause after experiencing one of the worst launches in the history of its genre. Its success is due in part to its appealing gameplay. Players are tasked with choosing from a list of jobs, which subsequently gives them an exclusive set of skills, abilities and a unique gauge that serves as the basis for how each player plays. With each expansion, the developers have added these gauges by offering new mechanics that fundamentally change the mechanics of some jobs.
Under his letter from the producer stream Final Fantasy XIV (via Cartoon) showed this new mechanics and capabilities included in the next expansion. Some notable additions gave the Black Mages hybrid magic that allowed them to cast fire and ice at the same time, allowing Summoners to literally summon Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda (instead of just Egis) in full. Healers’ offensive spells with throwing time will also be reduced Endwalker.
The biggest highlights, however, were the new Reaper and Sage jobs. Reaper is a DPS job that can summon a demon to its side while in combat, and uses a gauge to charge and unleash a barrage of demonic attacks. It can tear up portals to make it easier to move and emphasize mobility in the middle of a fight. Sage is a healer job, which is the first healer to be added to FFXIV in six years due to the greater difficulty around balancing healer jobs. The job itself is a hybrid between DPS and healer as it can attack enemies and heal players at the same time. It primarily uses barriers to protect other players from injury, counteracting the lack of regenerative healing that other such jobs have.
It seems to Final Fantasy XIV‘s popularity continues into the fall as it is FFXIV Full edition sold out of digital copies in July last year and so many upcoming new features have been added Endwalker. As a result, it seems Endwalker releases just at the perfect time to take advantage of the game’s rise in popularity. As the release of the expansion approaches, fans can spend the time preparing how they want to indulge in new jobs and abilities.
