During 2021, Marvel and Disney + have flooded viewers with new TV series, all featuring characters we all know and love from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So you’ve probably seen Loki come up with his trickster manners Loki, and watched The Falcon and The Winter Soldier go together in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And you probably now have the Hawkeyes’ next adventure in the coming Hawkeye also on your radar.
Yes, these MCU streaming series could not have more straightforward names. Yes, Marvel has now transformed watching television for homework on the big screen as the film franchise continues to hit theaters (thanks to Black widow and Shang Chi and the legend of the ten rings already this year, and with Eternities and Spider-Man: No way home still waiting before 2021 is out). And yes, the first of these new MCU Disney + programs finally made everyone notice the ever-great Kathryn Hahn who stole every scene she was in every time she appeared in WandaVision.
Of course, WandaVision was about Marvel characters Wanda and Vision, with Avengers: Endgame‘s Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany repeat their roles. But Hahn also played a significant role as neighbor-slash witch Agatha Harkness, even with an Emmy nomination for her performance. So because she was such a fan favorite, she now gets her own show.
Variety reports that the series will be a dark comedy about Agatha, starring Hahn; details beyond that, however, are currently under cover. But the character has a significant history, of which only some WandaVision dived in. In comics, she has been around since the 70s — and historically, her narrative dates back to the Salem witch trials.
The news — and the world’s reaction to the glorious Hahn — does not come as a surprise if you’ve seen the unique actress throughout her pre-Marvel career. She stole scenes in Parks and recreation, Transparent and I know that much is true also, and made an impact on films as varied as Revolutionary path, Our idiot brother and Bad mothers svirp. And she’s also unique in Netflix movies Private life as well.
Exactly when Marvel and Disney +’s Hahn-led Agatha Harkness spinoff will arrive has not been revealed. But you can get the Emmy-winning ‘Agatha All Along’ tune stuck in your head again now, until more news falls:
WandaVision is currently available to stream via Disney +. When Marvel and Disney +’s Agatha Harkness spinoff will drop has not yet been revealed – we will update you when more information is announced.
