COVID-19 Statistics | Oct. 11, 2021 | Lost Coast Outpost

Ninety-nine new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Humboldt County since the latest report on Friday, bringing the total number of residents who tested positive for the virus to 8,932. Three new admissions were also reported, including one person in the 60s and two people in the 70s.

Since Friday, 202 vaccination doses have been administered at public health mobile vaccination clinics. Health officials continue to urge all eligible members of the community to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

As always, the county’s vaccination and testing services are available free of charge. Appointments to public health vaccination clinics are not required but are recommended due to a significant increase in demand for additional doses and boosters. Register in advance at MyTurn.ca.gov. Check the availability of a specific vaccine at local pharmacies at vacciner.govor write a zip code to 438829 to find a pharmacy nearby that offers vaccines.

Pfizer is approved for those 12 and older, and Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for people 18 years and older. County residents between the ages of 16 and 17 can receive a vaccination at public health clinics without a parent or guardian who is physically present, as long as they have a signed consent form. Children under the age of 16 must still be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Residents, especially non-vaccinated individuals, are encouraged to be tested if they experience symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus. Free testing is available through OptumServe seven days a week in the Wharfinger building in Eureka. Mobile test sites are scheduled throughout the county most weekdays.
