PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (CW44 News 10 a.m.) – October 13, 2021, approximately At 6:07 a.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded at Park Boulevard Bridge to examine a vehicle against bicycle accidents.
According to investigators, 60-year-old cyclist Sherry Nowotarski was riding her bike west across the bridge when she lost control of the bike and fell into the curb. Investigators say 41-year-old Lenon Ashford drove a 2015 Dodge Dart west across the bridge. Ashford could not help but hit Nowotarski and hit her with the passenger side of his vehicle.

Nowotarski was transported to Bayfront Hospital, where she is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Speed and weakening do not seem to be factors in this crash.
Nowotarski is a civilian employee of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and was hired on November 1, 2010.
