Q: Thank you for addressing the issue of unvaccinated police and unvaccinated people. I agree with you, and despite the high minority, most do. You want to catch all kinds of hell, of course, but you already know that.
Scott Miller, San Jose
A: Thank you, and surprisingly not. Most of the feedback has been in support of my comments that it is not irresponsible and dangerous not to be vaccinated.
Q: I want to thank you for your comments about the San Jose police officers who refuse to get COVID-19 vaccinations. You are so right in saying that it is time to call it what it is, selfish and risky.
Terri Lehan, San Jose
Q: I really appreciated when you called the police who are not getting vaccinated. I appreciate your boldness. I also expect a significant backlash and urge you to stick with it.
Clark Quinn, Walnut Creek
A: More than 460 law enforcement agencies have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to Officer Down Memorial Page, making it by far the most common cause of duty-related deaths in 2020 and 2021. More than four times as many officers have died from COVID-19 as of shots in the same period.
Roadshow says: “It is selfish not to be vaccinated unless there is a medical reason to prevent it.” With many police, airlines, big sports animals and even some doctors refusing to be vaccinated, it’s so nice to finally see someone in the media who is not pussy in the case and tells it the way it is.
Not being vaccinated is not just selfish, it is irresponsible and antisocial.
Peter Ross, San Jose
A: Unvaccinated people who die from COVID-19 might have been rescued if they had received free vaccinations. They can also infect others. In some severely affected parts of the country, unvaccinated people who become seriously ill from COVID-19 use limited medical resources for beds and staff, so people with other serious conditions must be rejected.
Q: I’ve been reading you for years. But publishing the dribble that the ungrown is a danger to the waxed is the end of my reading of you. Vax does not work and it is criminal to deprive people of their rights by intimidation and job loss.
A: Sorry to stop reading. I’m curious about where you get your vaccination information, what these sources base their information on, and what their motivation is for cutting vaccinations. Follow the science. You may be surprised to find that some anti-wax sources have been vaccinated themselves. And some social media algorithms drive people toward division to keep users engaged.
