Filming has officially begun in Thailand on “The Greatest Beer Run Ever,” a film adaptation of Chick Donohue and JT Malloy’s best-selling memoirs on Skydance Media and the Apple TV + service.
The comedy drama is based on the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 to track down and share a few beers with his childhood friends in the Army. The thing is, they were fighting in Vietnam back then.
Zac Efron and Russell Crowe have signed on to star with Efron replacing the originally associated Dylan O’Brien in the role of Donohue.
Peter Farrelly directs the project from a script he co-wrote with “Green Book” co-authors Brian Currie and Pete Jones. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger produce.
