Jeremy Renner aims to get a double plus good November. Over at Disney +, he’s the face of the next Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off, Hawk Guy Hawkeye, while on November 14, Paramount + will be launched Mayor of Kingstown, a 10-part crime thriller series in which Oscar nominees play the head of a crime family in Michigan (I did not know they had them in Michigan).
The talent shows that Paramount means business by establishing its streamer as a prestige TV: Oscar winner Diane Wiest plays the family matriarch, with Game of Thrones‘Aiden Gillen and Friday night light‘Kyle Chandler in supporting roles. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, hell or high water) along with Hugh Dillon; the two also worked together on Paramount’s sleeping hit Yellowstone.
In, are, less prestigious debuts, Paramount + will also host the streaming premiere on Clifford the Great Red Dog (November 10), which I (a parent of two young children who love dogs) have feared since then early, scary pictures leaked a few years ago. After several pandemic-related delays, the film drops on streaming the same day it arrives in theaters.
And not to bury the ledge, but the fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery– undoubtedly Paramount +’s series d’ê · tre – begins on November 18 with a new captain sitting in the big chair and a new threat in the form of some space anomaly. (Is not always there.)
