As a slightly rational, slightly adult, I can handle ghost movies. When the movie is over, I can calmly resume normal life knowing that those ghosts, demons and zombies probably can’t hurt me. But psychological thrillers? Invasions in the home? Avenging ex-lovers? It’s the kind of scary movie that comes under my skin and stays there long after the lights are on again.
If you want to ponder your horror movie experience, here is a (non-exhaustive) list of scary movies that can technically go down in reality.
Note: I tried to stay away from thrillers based on historical, largely exaggerated true crime stories, such as the portrayal of Ted Bundy in Extremely evil, shockingly evil and vicious (2019).
