It’s the time of year for scary movies and creative costumes, and Wheel of fortune is also heading into the creepy vibes of Halloween. But some people think the game show may have gone a little too far with a particularly nerve-wracking puzzle this week that gave everyone chills.

After getting off to a strong start, participate Jordan Costa from San Diego, California was asked by the host Pat Sajak | to complete a puzzle under the “Movie Quote” category. Jordan’s lighthouse WOF competitor Darilyn Harrell helped him on the right path and it was up to him to finish it. When only “Y” and “M” were missing, Jordan said the phrase “Candyman” four times to win a whopping $ 25,800 in total earnings.

“That, by the way, for those of you who do not know, is from a movie called such mansaid Pat during the audience’s applause. “And I said it a fifth time, which means he shows up. Isn’t that how it works?”

“Absolutely, we should be horrified,” Jordan said. “Maybe he’s under the wheel,” Pat joked.

Although Pat and Jordan moved on to the next category and puzzle, WOF fans watch instantly from home took to Twitter to express their concern about the segment.

Wheel of fortune playing a dangerous match tonight, ” said one person. “As they got him to say Candyman x4. Wheel of fortune You are crazy !!! ” another added. “Wheel of fortune just had ‘Candyman Candyman Candyman’ as their phrase, and that’s pure evil, ” said another fan. “Why do we call #candyman by getting participants to say his name repeatedly? I was waiting for him to jump out of the letters and get Vanna @WheelofFortune,” commented a follower.

If you’re wondering what the big deal is, such man is a film franchise that first debuted in 1992 and was inspired by the short story from 1985 The Forbidden by Clive Barker. Since then, the film series has been expanded with three more titles, including the latest that hit theaters last summer.

In the movies, characters who hear about the city legend usually test their fate by saying “Candyman” five times in front of a mirror. The fictional Candyman then shows up and kills them. Of course, it’s just a horror movie, so there’s no need to freak out … but still, what a way to scare viewers!
