When the movie was released for Netflix, it quickly jumped into first place with its Walking Dead meetings Ocean’s Eleven the premise and its star-studded cast, including Dave Bautista, Theo Rossi and more.
Now, just 5 months later, the site has released a prequel to the zombie movie titled The Army of Thieves , which is directed by and participates in one of the Army of the Dead contributor, Matthias Schweighöfer. According to Netflix, this film follows Schweighöfer as Dieter, a bank teller who “gets dragged into the adventure of his life when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals trying to rob a sequence of legendary, impossible-crack safes throughout Europe. “
However, do not expect much zombie action, because the film takes place before the zombie outbreak has had any effect on Europe in their cinematic universe.
Meanwhile, the film has a completely different ensemble crew member from Army of the Dead. Together with Schweighöfer, The Army of Thieves starring among others Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Guz Khan and Jonathan Cohen.
