Jim Bob Duggar asks for promotional cash, gives no actual policies or ideas

Do not call it a comeback.

No, seriously, please do not let Jim Bob Duggar’s candidacy for the Senate be a success story.

He hopes that everyone will ignore the fact that the son, whose previous crimes he covered, is on his way to a trial for the indescribable.

Jim Bob is also clearly hoping for donations … without mentioning any actual policies or concrete platforms.

When a millionaire asks for donations – not for a cause, but for his own political glorification – people are often uneasy.

With big, national races, people understand – tens of thousands or even hundreds of millions of dollars can go into them.

But is Arkansas District 7 so fiercely contested that a millionaire and his fundamentalist church full of other cultists have to crowdsource campaign funds?

Jim Bob obviously thinks so.

Or maybe he is so focused on continuing to use his wealth to control his children that he does not bother to pay the bill.

Either way, his campaign page is a far too real thing to have and he has a lot to say.

Jim Bob Duggar's campaign statement

“I am running for state senate because these are unprecedented times in our nation,” Jim Bob declared.

He whines: “Out of control bureaucrats have put politics over common sense politics.”

Jim Bob says they have done this “with government mandates forcing people to choose between earning a paycheck and violating their personal rights and beliefs.”

In other words, he believes that people have a fundamental right to spread the plagues over their neighbors as they wish.

“The fundamental principles that have made our nation great are threatened like never before,” Jim Bob claims.

“Now more than ever we need a bold voice that is pro-family, pro-business, pro-gun and pro-life,” he writes.

Jim Bob as a Jackass

“It’s time for Conservatives to demand courageous leadership that puts Arkansas’ families, jobs, and our constitutional freedoms first,” Jim Bob declares.

Too early, he added, “I look forward to being your vote in the Arkansas State Senate.”

Well, that’s all very rough.

Jill and Derick on their own

Years ago, internet trolls who wanted to keep quiet and shame found good, decent people on an expression.

That expression is “virtue signaling”, as if people would only do and say good things for attention.

Something that seems much more real is what I like to call vicious signaling – loudly telling the world how bad you are.

That’s exactly what Jim Bob is doing here.

Just look at the phrase “pro family.” What does it mean? Who exactly is “anti-family”?

The term does not really matter … and yet it always serves signal that the speaker has malicious intentions.

As for the rest – Jim Bob is against vaccine mandates, he’s a gunshot, and he believes anyone who gets pregnant should be forced to give birth.

Is any of it surprising? None.

All of this is very much in line with the Jim Bob that the world has come to know and detest over the years.

But … does he list any actual policies or actual platforms?

Nowhere that we or anyone else looking at his heinous candidacy can find.

What laws or policies does he propose to spread firearms or criminalize reproductive health care or what scary things “pro-family” means?

Nothing.

It’s not just that Jim Bob’s ideas are unpopular and far beyond mainstream views, let alone what is actually right and wrong.

It is also that he does not suggest any “solutions” to these non-problems. He just wants cash.

Like other scammers before him, Jim Bob will probably get that money too.

In fact, he could look at a win-win scenario.

Although Jim Bob (hopefully) loses his political choice, so are we all know that there are ways to channel political donations into one’s own companies and make money.

Jim Bob Duggar Eye Roll

But perhaps the most nervous part of all this is not Jim Bob’s sinister views.

As we noted, they are not surprising, and unfortunately, the political arena has no shortage of malice, bigotry, greed, or dishonesty.

The most twisted part may be that Jim Bob is trying to make this comeback as Josh’s lawsuit approaches.

There will be a court hearing on November 18. The trial will begin in earnest on November 30.

Josh is accused of having received and possessed pictures and videos of child sexual abuse.

Little girls’ lives were ruined by grown men, and authorities tracked down one of the downloads of this content to Josh’s computer.

Jim Bob’s candidacy at such an awkward time could mean he believes Josh’s claims.

He had to believe in two absurd things: that Josh is innocent and that the justice system works impeccably.

If Jim Bob believed in both of these things, he would totally expect Josh to be acquitted and publicly justified.

More realistically, Jim Bob could plan to either ignore Josh’s trial or use it to his advantage.

The first would mean to say that Josh is a “grown man” and he can not control what his son does.

The second could mean claiming that his family is being attacked by “leftists” or “antifa” or “the devil”.

Jim Bob is not a good man or a good father. He has not been and would not be a good politician.

But with his family’s reality career once again sabotaged by yet another Josh scandal, he’s apparently looking for a new way to make the world worse.

And clearly it seems to be a bigger priority to line his own pockets than to convince people that he one really good idea.
