The trial against the other defendant, Kenneth Roark, is scheduled to begin January 31, 2022.

According to police reports, Viveiros and Bruno were neighbors and had an ongoing dispute. Early in the morning, New Bedford police responded to a call from a woman who was screaming and bleeding.

Bruno, 34, was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead.

Viveiros and Roark were arrested and charged with the murder, the newspaper said.

In March 2020, Viveiros’ trial was declared a trial due to the coronavirus pandemic, which ordered the courts to shut down. Viveiros has been in jail since his arrest in 2018.

Rochelle Bruno, Chantel Bruno’s aunt, said it was exhausting to relive the trial, but that she was there every day.
