In Bethesda’s upcoming RPG, Starfield, players will be able to fully customize their characters, including being able to choose pronouns.
“Really excited about what the team has done with character creation here,” said Bethesda creative director Todd Howard. “Including choice of background, skills, etc. You can also choose your pronoun (he, she, they), and we have recorded all the relevant dialogue to support this choice.”

In a Reddit AMA, Howard sat down to answer some questions about Starfield. This was his response to a Redditor who asked if the game’s character creation would be more complex, as it is in Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind or Oblivian. It seems Bethesda is as inclusive as it can be with Starfield, letting people express themselves the way they want.
Elsewhere in the AMA, some Redditors joked that the information should be written down so that it can be compared to what the final product has when it launches. “Let’s see if we get cyberpunked,” one Redditor said, referring to the setback and drama surrounding Cyberpunk 2077’s controversial launch.
Howard also confirmed that Starfield will have full counter-support, just like in previous Bethesda RPGs.
Starfield is Bethesda’s next big game and launches on PC and Xbox Series X | S on November 11, 2022. Then Elder Scrolls 6 is the next time Bethesda said it had to push back in order to create Starfield. Fortunately, Bethesda is committed to creating more single-player games.
