Teenagers injured in shooting in East Oakland – The Mercury News

OAKLAND – A girl and a boy, both 17, were shot early Saturday in East Oakland, authorities said.

Both were hospitalized in stable condition.

The shooting was reported around noon. 12:06 Saturday in block 1100 on 89th Avenue, a residential area north of D Street.

Police said the two shot and some other people were outside a home when at least one person approached them on foot and started shooting at them.

The boy was hit twice and the girl once, authorities said. The boy was taken to a hospital by ambulance from the scene and the girl was given her own transport to a hospital. Police have not said where the victims lived or what their circumstances were.

ShotSpotter technology registered more than 12 shots fired, and several grenade launchers were located at the scene, authorities said.

The perpetrator fled before police responded.

Police have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting, and no one has been arrested.
