Buck busts into the church

A 10-point buck sought refuge inside a church in southern Michigan on the opening day of the state’s deer hunting season.

Priests in Grace Sturgis encountered the goat inside the church’s auditorium on Monday before jumping through a window and back into nature.

A video that the church has posted on Facebook shows the goat wandering around the church. Pastor Amanda and Luke Eicher and Justin Wickey raised barricades at one time to try to keep the animal from the rest of the church. At one point, it went up stairs to a balcony.

“I was just shocked at how high he could jump,” Amanda Eicher said. “I was amazed at how big he was.”

The goat did not appear to have any gunshot wounds and bled only slightly from what appeared to be cuts from the glass, she told the Kalamazoo Gazette. Besides the broken window, the only other damage was blood stains on the carpet.

“We all need reasons to laugh, especially with the tough seasons of the last two years,” Eicher said. “I’m glad we could give some laughs.”
