Dialogue coach for ‘House of Gucci’ rejects Lady Gaga’s accent

At least she sounds like she’s from somewhere in Europe.

The dialogue coach at Ridley Scott’s long-awaited “House of Gucci” film has admitted that Lady Gaga did not exactly grasp the Italian accent of her character in the film.

“I’m sorry to say this, but her accent is not exactly an Italian accent, it sounds more Russian,” Italian actress and dialect coach Francesca De Martini told The Daily Beast about Gaga’s vocal impressions of Patrizia Reggiani, who famously hired a hitman to murder her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, in 1995.

De Martini auditioned for several roles in the film, only to be rejected as an actress, but was called back to help coach Gaga’s co-star, Salma Hayek.

“What happened was this: Salma shot for a day and then asked for a dialogue coach,” De Martini told the publication. “I think she heard the accent was not right and she was worried – she wanted to do well.”

While listening closely to Hayek, 55, De Martini also listened closely to Gaga, realizing that her bid for Reggiani was a bit more Eastern European than Italian.

Gaga, 35, has certainly put a lot of effort into completing his bid for Reggiani.

“I lived like her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of it, ”including off-camera, Gaga told British Vogue this month. “I never broke. I stayed with her.”

She even changed her hair color to get the right accent.

“It was almost impossible for me to speak with an accent as a blonde,” she added. “I immediately had to dye my hair.”

However, the film has a wide range of accents, with some actors making a more realistic view than others.

“When you watch the trailer, there are so many different accents,” De Martini remarked, adding that Al Pacinos is more New York-Italian, while Adam Driver has almost none at all.

The film will hit theaters on November 24.
