Job Summary

Shoreline welcomes faculty with a vision of excellence in

adapt to a variety of teaching situations and who have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a
campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding.

Instructors teach college-level courses to transfer
and vocational students. They also contribute to the department’s efforts to improve student retention and success. Opportunities are
available for teaching in learning communities, online, and in other non-traditional learning environments. In addition to teaching, this
position may involve developing programs and curricula and participating in college governance, department/division, and other
campus-related professional activities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • MA in
    related field
  • Basic Education/at-risk populations teaching experience
  • Teaching experience in with basic education
    populations, at risk youth, etc

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into
    teaching ABE/GED
  • Demonstrating a sound knowledge of ABE/GED in a wide range of levels
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching
    situations, including working effectively in both the classroom and other teaching environments and an ability/willingness to teach in more
    than one area of the program curriculum
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural appreciation and
    awareness
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written English in a classroom and with other
    professionals
  • Working/interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and
    socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Incorporating a variety of creative teaching methods to address different learning styles
  • Relating
    and inspiring students, ranging from reaching out to those students in need of help to challenging the best students
  • Handling
    difficult of sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within legal guidelines

Conditions of Employment

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The College is currently in predominantly remote operations, with instructional work
completed in a fully online environment during this time. Instructors will need to provide their own work space and internet access, noting
the College will provide technical equipment and support for online instructional needs. When the College returns to on-campus operations,
this position will perform work in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time with
instructors typically using computers and media equipment in the work environment.

TERM OF
EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:

This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of
contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this
position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
