Amazon Studios has debuted a new poster for Tender Bar, George Clooney‘s latest film as a director. Based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author JR Moehringer‘s memories of the same name, the movie stars Tye sheridan as Moehringer and Ben Affleck like his uncle Charlie.

Written by William Monahan, the Oscar-winning writer behind The departed, the drama in the Massachusetts scene explores the relationship between the fatherless JR and his uncle as they bond at a bar that overflows with colorful guests. However, the new poster is set outdoors. It features both Uncle Charlie and a young JR leaning against a car, with a large explanation in the upper right corner. The film also stars Lily Rabe, Ron Livingston, Christopher Lloyd, and newcomers Daniel Ranieri.

Tender Bar is the latest in Ben Affleck’s third comeback after returning to more adult-oriented dramatic food after his unpleasant experience playing Batman in the DC Extended Universe. Last year, he made a strong bid for an Oscar nomination with Gavin O’Connor‘s The way back, a film that drew parallels to his real struggles with alcohol abuse. Earlier this year, he appeared as an instructor Ridley Scott‘s The last duel, which did not work as well as everyone involved would have wanted.

Clooney, meanwhile, has just slipped on semi-retirement as an actor following the billion-dollar takeover of his tequila company. However, he has been busy as an instructor. Last year, he spearheaded the science fiction survival drama The midnight sky to Netflix. The film, which was considered a major award challenger before release, debuted to medium-sized reviews and received only one Oscar nomination for best visual effects.

Amazon provides Tender Bar a platform release that starts with a debut in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 17, followed by a nationwide cinema premiere on December 22 and culminates with a global release on Prime Video on January 7. You can see the new poster here and read the official synopsis below:

Tender Bar tells the story of JR (Sheridan), a fatherless boy who grows up in the glow of a bar, where the bartender, his uncle Charlie (Affleck), is the sharpest and most colorful of a selection of quirky and demonstrative father figures. While the boy’s determined mother (Rabe) struggles to give her son the opportunities that are denied her – and leaves the dilapidated home of her scandalous, albeit reluctantly supportive – father (Christopher Lloyd) – JR begins to play wild, if not always gracefully. , to pursue his romantic and professional dreams – with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar. Tender Bar is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by JR Moehringer.
