A major police operation has been launched after the discovery of a man’s body in a quiet village

Humberside police Forensic scientists are on site and local roads have been blocked off in the village of Messingham near Scunthorpe.

Police confirmed that a man has been tragically found dead in a house in the village.

There is a heavy police presence on Brigg Road, which is closed at the Eastfield Road junction with a patrol vehicle parked across it.

The traffic is shut out while a police officer mannes the place and the public is asked to avoid the area.

Local residents have spoken out about their shock at waking up to a giant police study on their doorstep.

The driveway to the house is cordoned off.

Police say they were called out early this morning “after the concern for the safety of the resident” and have confirmed that a man is sadly dead.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A resident said: It’s very unusual for something like this to happen here, I do not like to wonder what happened there. ”

Another added: “I do not know what happened, I woke up and it was here.

“It looks serious. Usually we just get the weird burglary, nothing like this.

“I live inside the barricade, so I hope I’m allowed to come back to my house.”

A Humberside police spokesman said: “Officers are currently present at a property on Brigg Road, Messingham.

“We were called to the property at 05.30 today (Thursday, November 18) after concern for the safety of the occupant.

“On arrival, it was found that the man was unfortunately dead. The officers are investigating the man’s death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

“The area has been cordoned off to allow emergency services to operate safely, and we ask members of the public to avoid the area.”
