He said 99 percent of transport department employees have submitted information about their vaccination status, including whether they are in the process of completing vaccination or have received exemptions.
Buttigieg defended the vaccine requirements as necessary measures to end the pandemic and protect employees. “It’s part of a process to make sure everyone in the federal workforce is safe,” he said.
“We are all ready to be done with this pandemic – to be done, not just with death and hospitalization and the gloomy headlines, but also to be done with the limitations and the demands and the masks,” he said. “Putting all that behind us means getting everyone vaccinated. That’s what these demands are about.”
