Canberra woman charged with beating man with car at Mount Ainslie lookout

A woman from Canberra has appeared in ACT Magistrates Court accused of hitting a man with a car at a lookout post in June.

The mystery surrounded the discovery of the man at the popular Mount Ainslie lookout point after he was found lying on the road with critical injuries on June 3rd.

He was treated by on-site paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for several days.

Police took five months to target Kiah Knight, 18, after what they said was a lengthy investigation.

Police said they were able to identify the driver after receiving assistance from several people who were interviewed by their large collision team.

Ms Knight did not appear in court in person today, but was represented by her lawyer, who filed charges of innocence in a charge of negligent driving that caused serious bodily injury and failure to provide assistance after the accident.

Lawyers told the court they needed time to gather evidence in the case, especially from several experts.

The case is due in court again in January.
