James Van Der Beek has revealed that his wife Kimberly secretly gave birth to their sixth child naturally after suffering two heartbreaking pregnancy losses.
The actor, 44, announced the arrival of their son, a baby named Jeremiah Van Der Beek, who was born on their family ranch.
‘Humble and overjoyed to announce the safe, happy arrival of Jeremiah Van Der Beek (we have called him Remi, by the way – not “dinosaur”),’ the Dawson’s Creek actress began in an Instagram post announcing the birth on Monday.
Meet Jeremiah: James Van Der Beek has revealed that his wife Kimberly secretly gave birth to their sixth child naturally after suffering two heartbreaking pregnancy losses.
In his post, Van Der Beek described seeking help from a Texas doctor who diagnosed the last two pregnancy losses as being caused by an ‘incompetent cervix.’
After a ‘simple surgical cerclage’ was performed, Kimberly gave birth naturally.
The actor said they decided to keep the pregnancy news to themselves after the devastating pregnancy losses.
Van Der Beek continued in his post: ‘After experiencing #pregnancy loss twice in a row (both at 17+ weeks), we kept this quiet. True, I was scared when I found out.

“But we found a doctor here in Texas who diagnosed the last two as being caused by one: ‘incompetent cervix’ (I asked him what kind of misogynistic old man invented that term, and he laughed – which made me keep even more of him.Now it’s called a #WeakenedCervix).
‘A simple surgical cerclage was made, removed at full term, @vanderkimberly gave birth naturally on the ranch … and here we are. The medical records say that one should only look at a cerclage as an option after three late losses. Our doctor recommends considering it after one. Spread the word.
‘Every child brings their own energy, their own manifestation of consciousness, their own lessons. The ones we lost each gave us different pieces in the puzzle … which left us so much more grateful for the ongoing master class that we can enjoy with this cute, clever little one.

‘(ps – To everyone in our community – both local and extended – who knew about our journey and honored our desire for privacy … thank you. May that respect and karma come back to you all 1000 times) Life is beautiful.’
Kimberly has previously revealed that she thought she was going to die after suffering two miscarriages in seven months.
She admitted that her baby losses in November 2019 and June 2020 were ‘incredibly difficult’ to cope with and made her so ill that she was not sure she would cope.
“I’ve actually had five abortions in total, but the last two were important because they admitted me to the hospital. They were incredibly difficult, emotionally and physically,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

‘I just felt like I wanted to pass. I did not know I would live through it. It was getting pretty dark, ‘Kimberly continued.
‘I just have a faint glimpse of what happened to James because I kept losing consciousness. He was there and gave me comfort and love, yes, just a stone. ‘
Van Der Beek was pretty much in public at the time they endured their abortion in 2019.
At the time, he was a participant in Dancing With The Stars.
“My wife Kimberly went through the worst nightmare of any expectant parent – we lost the baby,” he said in the program, revealing the abortion. ‘The little soul we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to what lies beyond.’
James and his family recently moved to Texas after Kimberly’s five abortions and the death of his mother Melinda Weber.
Kimberly told Austin Life: ‘We had just been through a crazy year; with two late abortions my body was still healing and it was hard for me to walk around at that time. ‘
The business consultant confirmed that she had only been out of the hospital for a few months when they traveled to Austin, and felt exhausted.
James revealed that he always wanted a big family and actually told Kimberly about it during one of their very first conversations.
‘You said when you first wrapped your arms around me that you felt all the babies we were going to have together, I just did not know how many babies it meant!’ mother of five joked.
In addition to Jeremiah, James and Kimberly share Olivia, 11, Joshua, nine, Annabel, seven, Emelia, five, and Gwendolyn, three.
