Almen Hospital does not seem to be completely finished with the Jason Morgan story. And that would make sense. After all, even the dead do not remain completely dead in Port Charles. (Just ask Sonny Corinthos.) But now there is some speculation that soap opera veteran Trevor St. John will replace Steve Burton in the role. It would definitely add an interesting layer to the drama, if true.
[Spoiler alert: Potential spoilers for upcoming episodes of General Hospital are ahead.]
Steve Burton’s days at ‘General Hospital’ are numbered
Many businesses in the soap opera world believe that Steve Burton’s days ahead Almen Hospital are numbered. In fact, Soaps @SheKnows points out that Burton has traveled a lot, both with his daughter and with some other friends. And that’s something he would not be able to do if he had a tight movie schedule.
Outlet also points out that there have been quite a few video teases suggesting Burton’s character would be the next “brother to go,” as you can see below.
Other businesses have referred to Burton as “ex-Almen Hospital star “, which for all seems to confirm his status outside the contract.
CheatSheet has contacted ABC for a comment on Burton’s status at General Hospital. As of this writing, we have not heard anything back. But we will keep you updated and update this piece if there is a comment.
There have been rumors that Trevor St. John joins the cast
A little better Almen Hospital news, a soap opera veteran is rumored to be joining the cast. Trevor St. John, who is best known for his work on A life to live en Todd Manning – Victor Lord’s twin – may be coming to Port Charles.
With so many cast leaving Almen Hospital, it makes sense that Powers That Be would like to inject fresh blood into the ranks. There is some fan speculation on the bulletin boards at Soaps @ SheKnows that suggests that St. John will join the cast. But right now, this is just a rumor. Nothing has been confirmed from either St. John or ABC directly.
But will St. John play Jason Morgan?
Soaps @ SheKnows spoke directly to the seniors at Almen Hospital about what’s going to happen to Jason Morgan in the coming episodes. And while they were careful not to reveal too much about what will unfold on Cassadine Island, they apparently seemed to suggest that Jason’s time on the show was running out.
As the picture above indicates, Burton and St. John more than a passing resemblance to each other. It would be easy just to get St. John to step into the role and behave as if nothing had happened – or say he had plastic surgery. But even if things do not go so far as to say that there was “plastic surgery”, it would not be the first time someone completely different entered a role without explanation. After all, look at Charles Shaughnessy stepping right into the role of Victor Cassadine.
This, of course, is only speculation. We’ll just have to tune in to the next episode of Almen Hospital to see what comes next.
