Changing things up! Gigi Hadid stepped out in New York City for the first time since the news came that she and Zayn Malik split after dating to and from since 2015.
The 26-year-old star was spotted in the Big Apple with sister Bella Hadid Monday, November 22nd. Gigi wore a red Versace jumpsuit with a black turtleneck that looked forward, according to photos posted by Page six Wednesday, November 24th.
The California native, who shares 14-month-old daughter Khai with Malik, 28, wore a black face mask, matching black hat and boots as she boarded an SUV. Gigi also debuted with long, blonde hair days after showing reddish-brown curls and dramatic bangs via Instagram.
Bella, on the other hand, was seen wearing a black blazer, pants and pink t-shirt with a blurred brown hat as she followed her big sister into the vehicle on Monday.
Gigi has kept a low profile in November and has only written twice on social media to promote various business ventures in the wake of her family’s drama with Malik – and their split.
The One Direction singer allegedly got into a physical altercation with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, in September. The incident made headlines the following month when a report surfaced that Malik had “beaten” the former Real housewives from Beverly Hills star, 57, at his home in Pennsylvania.
Malik issued a statement via Twitter in October, suggesting that Yolanda had “leaked” the story to the press in the midst of her efforts to “create a safe and private space” for her daughter to grow up in.
“In an attempt to protect that space for her, I agreed not to contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner who entered our home while my partner was away for several weeks. since, “wrote the British crooner on time. “This was and should still be a private matter, but it seems that there is division at the moment, and despite my efforts to restore ourselves to a peaceful family environment that will allow me to be with my daughter in a way she deserves. “
The “Pillowtalk” musician went on to tell TMZ that he “firmly” refused to beat Yolanda, hoping she would “reconsider her false claims.”
While the Dutch native has not yet spoken publicly about the alleged incident, a spokeswoman for Gigi issued a statement in October asking for “privacy” as she is “focused solely on the best for Khai.”
Family members did not immediately respond Us Weekly’s request for comment on the situation, but U.S confirmed at the time that Gigi and Malik were “quietly separated” after reconnecting in January 2020.
The duo welcomed their daughter in September 2020, and one source told it exclusively U.S in October that Malik is still “very involved in Khai’s life.” The insider added that even though the couple had “had problems for a while” before resigning, they still care a lot about each other.
In October, Malik was charged with four counts of harassment in connection with the Yolanda incident, which he refused to deny, according to court documents obtained by U.S.
The “Dusk Till Dawn” singer was fined, ordered to conduct an anger management class and a program of domestic violence and put on a 90-day suspended sentence for each of the four charges. He was also ordered to stay away from Yolanda and the security guard on the property during the incident.
Malik’s probation can be terminated by a judge if he meets all these conditions within six months.
Meanwhile, a source told exclusively U.S in November that Gigi “met with new lawyers to start helping with custody issues” after the split.
