Marvel’s Avengers unveils new Spider-Man costume, confirms Skin Count

Marvel’s Avengers reveals a Spider-Man costume that pays homage to Peter Parker’s origins, where the hero’s skin numbers are also confirmed.

Marvel’s Avengers fans on PlayStation have been looking forward to Spider-Man’s arrival for over a year, and the hero’s release is finally imminent. As the wall crawler drops next week, Crystal Dynamics has revealed plenty of his Marvel’s Avengers cosmetics, and now fans know the exact number of skin.

It will definitely be interesting to see how much Marvel’s Avengers‘Spider-Man DLC delights fans when it was recently revealed that the hero is not getting any new story missions. While this makes sense, as the one-platform-exclusive character has already twisted PC and Xbox users enough, the extra stories that came with heroes like Black Panther and Hawkeye were a solid way to introduce them. But while fans may end up being disappointed by this lack of content, they should be happy to know Marvel’s Avengers will release lots of skins for the friendly neighborhood hero.

While it is unclear if any MCU-inspired Spider-Man skins will be included, or if other memorable comics like 2099 will be available, an IGN preview with the hero has confirmed that there are “about 40 suits” to unlock. This is of course a huge amount, and IGN has confirmed that the clothes will be bought in the marketplace and earned via a hero card just like the game’s other costumes. It is unclear whether Spider-Man wants earnings Marvel’s Avengers cosmetics, though Crystal Dynamics has revealed a different costume for the character.

That costume is a modern take on Spider-Man’s Wrestler outfit, a costume that was a crucial part of his journey toward becoming a superhero. Customized in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series and given a unique look in the original Spider Man film by Sam Raimi, the costume has followed the character in several adaptations. Worn during his attempt to make money as a wrestler shortly after he gained his powers, the suit is linked to Uncle Ben’s death and is a prototype of his iconic costume.

But since the Wrestler suit from the comics is relatively basic, as the original version was white and the Ultimate version was only a sweatshirt and mask, it makes sense for Crystal Dynamics to give it an upgrade. The new Wrestler suit retains the blue mask from the Ultimate version, though it completely covers the eyes with red lenses and looks like a luchador’s headgear. The sweatshirt has been replaced with a red hoodie that has blue and black accent colors, with shorts, pants and a bare neck that helps capture the homemade look.

While Noir Suit and Spider-Armors may prove to be more popular, comic book readers and dedicated Spider-Man fans will probably love watching this outfit be appreciated. With dozens of looks available, though, there should be a suit for any Spidey fan.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
