Mercedes-Benz teased its upcoming hyper-efficient electric car with over 1,000 km (620 miles) range with a new image.
The automaker plans to use the vehicle to test new technology to improve the efficiency of its electric vehicles.
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz announced an updated electrification plan that included a new plan to be fully electric by 2030.
The German carmaker announced several new programs to help achieve this goal.
One of them is the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX, a new ultra-efficient, all-electric.
It was first announced last year, and at the time, the automaker was talking about a range of over 750 miles (1200 km).
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz updated the range and said so it will have over 1,000 km (620 miles) range from the “real world”..
Today, Markus Schäfer, Mercedes-Benz COO, announced that VISION EQXX will be unveiled on January 3:
As you may know, we’ve been working on turning our strategic ambition of ‘Lead in Electric Drive’ into a car for some time: now the VISION EQXX is poised to become the most efficient electric vehicle we’ve ever built – with a “Real range of more than 1,000 km. And I’m extremely pleased that it will be revealed to the public very soon – on January 3, 2022.”
Schaefer also released a new teaser image of the vehicle that is more revealing than the others:

The director argued that the carmaker needs to improve the efficiency of its electric vehicles if it wants to achieve its electrification goals:
That is why we have set ourselves a more than ambitious goal with VISION EQXX: We want to develop an electric car in the compact class that can drive 1,000 km on a stretch on one battery charge under the right road conditions, with a single-digit consumption value for kilowatt hours per hour. 100 kilometers at normal motorway speeds. “
Schäfer said the new vehicle will be equipped with battery cells with 20% higher energy density than in the EQS.
He really hyped the revelation coming on January 3, 2022.
While still talking only about a concept vehicle, they made it clear that some of the technology in the concept will turn it into new electric vehicle platforms that will support Mercedes-Benz’s future electric cars.
