Tia Mowry-Hardrict explains why she does not want to appear in ‘The Game’ Revival

Tia Mowry-Hardrict, who will star in the Lifetime movie Miracle in Motor City (airs this Saturday at 8 / 7c), opens up about why she will not appear in the Paramount + revival of The game.

The actress starred in the original series as Melanie Barnett-Davis, an aspiring doctor who struggled with her role as NFL player Derwin Davis’ girlfriend. First appeared as a fish out of water, and Melanie eventually formed a close bond with Kelly Pitts (who is also not returning for the revival this season) and Tasha Mack.

Mowry-Hardrict left the show in season 5 and returned to the series finale, where Melanie and her husband Derwin welcome twins.

“I loved Melanie. I loved playing every single part of her,” Mowry-Hardrict told TVLine. “I do not think I will return at this time. For right now, there have been no conversations about me coming back, and I’m fine with that. I do so many things. As I get older, I try to do things that are influential and that are purposeful and inspiring in some way in my life. There are things I like to focus on, and those are the things I put time and energy into. ”

That does not mean Melanie was not one of those things, but “I have already done that. I want to create and make room for other inspiration. There is so much more,” she adds. “I do not feel that there is much more for Melanie to do and say. She’s had such an incredible story … Everything I do has a beginning and an end, and when that chapter is over, it’s time to start a new one. “

Although Melanie will not be involved in the resuscitation, her husband Derwin is destined to return and “really screw things up,” according to Wendy Raquel Robinson, who plays with Hosea Chanchez as series OGs Tasha Mack and Malik Wright. Walker‘s Coby Bell, who played the comically frugal Jason Pitts in the original series, is also expected to look past this season. (Additional reporting by Mekeisha Madden Toby)
