A man has been charged after a woman’s baby was allegedly taken from her and she was left with life-threatening injuries during an incident on Northern. Gold Coast.
Police was called to an apartment in Como Crescent near Southport just after 5pm yesterday, where they found a 25-year-old woman who did not respond and suffered life-threatening injuries.
She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
An Amber Alert was issued after her 11-month-old son was allegedly taken from the apartment.
The child was found in good condition around midnight when it was taken to Crestmead Police Station.
A 34-year-old Crestmead man, who was arrested in Oxley shortly after 12:30 p.m., has since been charged with the incident.
He has been remanded in custody for appearing before Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow on charges including aggravated assault and strangulation.
Police have seized a gray Mazda CX9 as part of the investigation.
