• The Broadway community gathered at the red stairs in Times Square this afternoon to celebrate the life and legacy of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who died last Friday.
• The group sang “Sunday” from Sondheim’s show Sunday in the park with George. Producer Michael J. Moritz directed the cast, which included cast from all of the shows currently running on Broadway, and stars such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Raul Esparza and Lauran Benanti. The event was open to the public and fans were encouraged to sing along.
• Before the performance, Lin-Manuel Miranda read a passage from Sondheim’s book from 2011, See I made a hat.

There is no better way to pay tribute to the great Stephen Sondheim than to sing in harmony with #Broadway community … on a Sunday in the heart of Broadway. Rest in peace, teacher. Thank you. Good trip. # SøndagForSondheim pic.twitter.com/qR4fyxP3Je
